Protest Art_

A project based on four printing methods. Each week we will learn a printing technique and from this we will decide on how we want are protest posters to be created. My protest is about binge drinking. a real life topic effecting young people. More and more young people are being exposed to binge drinking and it is having a negative effect on our society. it is a huge issue which needs to be addressed. Some examples of work can be seen below:

Whats your poison, related to the amount of alcohol you consume

Alcohol campaign targeted towards women, who are drinking the same if not more then men in this new ladette society

Don't turn a night out into a nightmare. An Australian alcohol based campaign around young people binge drinking.

Posters from Pernod Ricard UK about drinking excessively

A binge drinking poster, targeted at students as a fun social event

Newpaper article on Binge drinking across the UK

A copy of the Binge Drinking and Europe report

My Initial Idea
I would like to create an abstract set of three posters telling people about the dangers of binge drinking. Not in the normal way, of health conscious views, but of acts which may happen in result of binge drinking e.g blackouts.

My final idea is influenced by the Barack Obama Hope piece

My piece is heavily influenced by the Obama Hope campaign. During printing it will allow me to create colour differentiation and tonal elements will be clear and precise to create a good piece.
